Honeymoon Excursions
Being on the water and eating yummy food is always great, but the next best thing about being on a cruise is getting off the ship. On Wednesday of our honeymoon week, our ship ported in Progreso, Mexico. We bought an excursion package and were taken on a 20-minute bus ride to a beach resort.
The ocean was way too cold to swim in, but it was still sure nice to sit beside. We were served unlimited drinks and could pick from a Mexican buffet. More great food!
I thought my cabana boy was pretty tall, dark and handsome, wouldn't you say?
Along with lounging by the ocean, eating and drinking, we also played sand volleyball with some of the other guests, swung in hammocks, took a kayak out on the water and listened to some fun music. It was a great day at the beach.
Early on Thanksgiving morning, we arrived in Cozumel, Mexico. We didn't purchase any planned excursions here, but the port our ship was docked at had plenty of places to shop. We did more looking than buying, but that's fun too!
The outdoor shopping plaza was really beautiful. Palm trees everywhere and the weather was absolutely perfect.
One of my only souvenir purchases was a hand-painted Christmas ornament. Of course, it was also inside of the only bag that Coach dropped on our way back to the ship. What a sad way to start the tradition of buying one ornament together each year! Ha! Certainly memorable.
The best part of Cozumel was finding an internet cafe! I hadn't been connected with the good ol' world wide web since early Monday morning, so it was quite a treat. With the purchase of anything over $4 we were given an hour of internet. We got to send a picture to FB and wish everyone a "Happy Thanksgiving." Best four dollars ever spent.
We loved our time in Mexico. A cruise was the perfect affordable honeymoon for a young couple like ourselves.
