BLACK HERSTORY

I came across an old news article this week about Chauncia Boyd Rogers and her daughter, Ava. To commemorate Black History Month and encourage Ava to always be proud of who she is, they began a photo project where Ava dresses up as black role models and history-making pioneers. The project is now three years strong! What a beautiful idea!

DL CANCELLATIONS

I guess I'm back on the market for my perfect travel/vacation camera. I was so looking forward to purchasing either the Nikon DL18-50 or DL24-85 just as soon as they were finally released. The original plans were for them to come out in Summer of 2016, but were put on delay because of circuit issues and an earthquake. The line was completely cancelled this week due to profitability concerns.

Any good recommendations from my photo friends? On vacations, I want DSLR quality without the weight and bulk of a DSLR.

DALLAS HOMES

This informative article from the Dallas Business Journal came across my Facebook feed. It includes wonderful information like "In the past five years, home prices in Dallas-Fort Worth have shot up more than 40 percent" and "There is a great struggle to find a great product under $400,000...There's just nothing out there."

This, just in time for my husband and I to 'celebrate' our home loan pre-approval. Awesome. Y'all, it's kind of a nightmare.

NOTABLE QUOTES

» "It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror — first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House, and The Grammys, and see themselves." - Beyonce, 2017 Grammys

» "This album for me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental. And so well-thought-out, and so beautiful and soul-baring...You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel; the way you make my black friends feel is empowering." - Adele, 2017 Grammys
